Airport Parking Safety Reminders For The Frequent Traveller
Travelling is a part of man’s
quest for excellence. We are able to reach our designated places in a matter of
hours thanks to modern transportation. But sometimes, you gotta leave something
behind in order to reach a lace that is far beyond your own country, and
sometimes, people take this for granted, leading to regret and uttermost
disappointment.
Leaving your car in an airport parking lot may be the safest
place to leave your car when going abroad or to other places, but this does not
come with safety reminders. Below are things to be remembered when leaving your
car at the airport parking lot. They may sound OC, but it’s better to be safe
than sorry.
Remember to
disconnect your battery.
If you’re going to go away for a long time, your car’s
battery might get drained when not in use, or worse, may be used to start your
car. Obviously, when the battery is disconnected, any car thief that has
slipped through security will have a hard time reving up your engine since
there is no electricity. Plus your car’s alarm system might drain your battery
especially when its sensitive to stimuli. It’s better to be safe than sorry, so
just reconnect it when you get back.
Have your engine
checked before leaving.
This is the first protocol when leaving your car on an
airport parking lot. Make sure that your car’s engine oil has been replaced if
it has been used for a long time, plus check your battery life and water
levels. You don’t want to come back and find that your car won’t start for some
unknown reason right? So have it checked before leaving it.
Check your tires.
Be sure that all four tires are fully inflated and has no
leaks whatsoever. It’s really a hassle when you come back and you find
that one or all of them are flat. You
never know when this could happen so it won’t hurt to check. Don’t forget to
bring a jack, a set of tools and a spare tire along just in case of unexpected
circumstances.
If you’re going on a trip during winter season, nothing
beats a handy dandy ice scraper, especially when an unexpected blast of snow
and ice suddenly covers your car. Most travelers forget this and are usually
stuck in the airport parking whenever this happens. Remember, no one wants to
spend their Christmas at the parking lot.
Never leave any
documents inside your car.
Do not leave any documents, especially your car’s
registration documents inside. Even though the parking area has the best
security, you never know when some car thief might just slip in. this has
happened to me before, although not in an airport. I had no chance of
recovering my car cause the papers were inside the glove compartment when it
got jacked. So never leave any important papers.
Do not leave any
spare keys inside the car.
This has been a habit by most drivers and has been costing
them much. Please, even though your on an airport parking lot, do not leave
your spare key inside the glove compartment or sun visor. The goal here is to make
anyone who might slip in through security have a hard time jacking your car, so
please, break this unsafe tradition.
