Shopping—a Haven Worth a Bargain

Movies like “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Confessions of a Shopaholic” have dominated the big screen not only because of the famous Hollywood stars, but their appeal to fashion fanatics and shoppers. For the many women around the world, shopping is not only a verb, it is their second heaven. Whenever they shop, they feel like they are floating in thin air and just for a little while, they feel that they were able to escape the real world.

However, if you fancy shopping and you really don’t have all the money to spend, there are several ways you can still enjoy the dozens of dresses and shoes, minus the extravagance. Besides, what could be sweeter than looking and feeling good while spending less, right?

The Thrift Store
While this is number 1 on my list, you must always choose where to go. Not all thrift stores offer a good bargain, and while this is true, there are some which you can always rely on. It is actually alright to shop around more initially, but when you do, enlist all the stores which you think can give you what you want at a cheaper price. You may actually find it surprising to find out that the clothes and accessories you see at malls can be bought half of its price on these stores.

More of YOU
Fashion is all about expressing yourself and when shopping, it may happen that you’d want to buy this and that. Nevertheless, you must never give in to temptation and before buying that piece, ask yourself if you CAN wear it and if you really would. Know your body type and your personality. Will it look good on you and would it be a mirror of you? Otherwise, you would just be wasting money.

Recycle
We all have those old pieces at home which we think are useless. Well, now is that time for you to give your oldies some good loving as they can really be your new set of clothes and all you need is to be creative and learn how to sew. Also, if your mom or your auntie has extra clothes they don’t wear, don’t let that garment go into waste. Use them. Fashion is all about creativity and art. Learn to cut and sew and voila, your old clothes would be as good as new!

Shop Off-Season
Do you notice how all your favourite designer clothes go on sale during the end of each season? Well, you won’t really wear a bikini during winter, right? Shopping is not only about buying what you see, it’s having the patience to wait for good deals. It won’t really rain all year, so what are you waiting for? Go and buy that bikini for next year’s summer.

Shopping may just be extravagance for some, but there is more to shopping than what meets the eye. It’s a haven. It’s paradise here on earth. And while you are enjoying your shopping galore, never forget to allot a definite budget. It doesn’t have to be expensive to go to heaven, does it?
